Pickups on 4001V63 vs 4001C64

Are the pickups on the 4001V63 the same as those on the C64, and if not, are the values different? Thanks!!

The new scatterwound toasters replaced the hot toasters in 2000 or so, so most v63's have the older hot ones, and all c64's will have the new scatterwound ones.

I believe the horseshoes are different but I couldn't tell you how.

The V63 is hotter and the C64 more balanced.

Thanks for the replies folks .... I have a possible opportunity to buy a V63 bass, but was wondering if it is possible to obtain a similar tone with this to the C64 by eq-ing a little in light of the hotter pickups in the V63 ... I understand that the V63 is somewhat more versatile of a bass according to some on the forum.

Depends on if you want clarity or more aggression. The V63 toaster is about 11.4k ohms vs the C64 toaster at 7.4K ohms. That takes away a little lower register clarity but adds content. The RIHS pickups are about the same, except he C64 has the .0047uF cap in series between the selector switch and the volume pot and the V63 does not, making the C64 sound thinner or more trebly. The cap can be bypassed with a wire across the cap, shorting it out of the circuit.
