Well the ironic part is I have the pickguard and an extra Toaster lying around. Sounds like destiny. Let's pray the route isn't too bad.

Sounds like some kind of fate is playing itself out here....stepping out of the way!

My '72 had the same style of "mudbucker" when I got it:

Fortunately, there was *no* routing done whatsoever to make it fit.

My '76 came with what I believe is the "upgraded" Dimarzio model.....Am I seeing a trend here? Must have been something in the water back then. LOLImage

the late 70's, early 80's were the decade of "upgrades", triamping your bass, new pickups, etc. Can you imagine triamping a bass?, a Fender P bass at that, I knew a guy who did, haha! He had two 15's for the bottom and was a bottom freak, always blowing speakers, I wonder why? He had a rack that looked like a PA and his cabs were very tall, spent mucho bucks on all this stuff, and it sounded like S**t

By the way Rob, how's your project coming? I thought this a worthy purchase at the time and you posted you were going to make something nice out of it.

I'm working on it, but it's slow going. It's stripped, and I have almost all of the parts I need for it... check my thread in here for details- "my new project - '72 4001". I need to upload some pics of it's current state.

Compared to the bass this thread got started about, this one looks "prime"!

I'm posting it here, because some of us might miss it... it's been listed under an eBay category other than 'bass guitars'.
My first bass was a Rickenbacker...
My best bass is a Rickenbacker...
My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker

Here it is.

A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I think it got the bucks because of the horseshoe.

I started out this thread all gung-ho and I would have really wanted to own and salvage this thing. But holy **** what's going on lately. Rick or not these prices have gotten way out of hand. $1900 for a clapped out project, best of luck to who ever ended up with it.

The ivory ric is interesting. It may be the photos, but the rosewood really looks faded. Even though the seller said the crack has been repaired it still worries me a little. Could be a serious problem considering the location.
