IMF will forecast US recession next week
IMF will forecast US recession next week
It's official:
"The International Monetary Fund will next week forecast that the US economy will go into recession this year, a German newspaper reported Tuesday, citing a report to be released next week.
The US economy will experience at least two successive quarters of negative growth -- the technical definition of a recession -- and will grow only half a percent over the whole of 2008, weekly Die Zeit reported.
Previously the IMF, which will release the report at its spring meeting together with the World Bank next week, had forecast US growth this year of around 1.5 percent, the newspaper said.
The IMF will also lower its forecast for world growth from the current 4.1 percent, Die Zeit said"

Did this story come out last November, or are they just now getting around to it?

It's been great watching the talking heads on CNBC the last few months trying to come to terms with the "R" word. You can almost hear the "Don't you say it!" from gallery.

The "R" word should be encouraged, as long as the 'R"is followed by an I, an a C...you get the drift.

It would seem there is no need for the R word at RIC these days!

Like most international bodies, the IMF has a talent for breathlessly stating the obvious. Again, like most international bodies, it is powerless to do anything about the problem. It's like predicting an object is colliding with earth when it's entering the atmosphere. They're such a bunch of merchants.octagon wrote:It's official:
