Rickenbacker 4005 on BBC4 last night

Post by lucky »

Flicking through the tv channels last night,a programme came on called pop goes the sixties and the group that was on was The Who,who where playing "I can see for miles" and John was using his Ric 4005.The show was in colour & the bass looked really good,it probobly was'nt that old,i think that this bass now belongs to Simon Mole.

Simon - Is that the 4005 I was hammered on then abruptly changed by the auctioneer, or, is that yours?

you know I don't remember anything out of the ordinary while bidding for this "video star" one - bar the panic drumming in my ears as my cash limit drew close - but there was certainly an item where the auctioneer brought down the hammer, then abruptly said sorry I missed a phone bid, and the poor winner was left behind as he carried on - I think his hammer would have gone somwhere tender if he'd done that to MY 4005!!!!!

I always thought the Ric stuff went fairly cheap at the auction. I'm still kicking myself for not bidding on the 4001/8!

When you consider how much the Fender gear went for, the 4005's were flying under the radar....
