Johnny was best known for his use of Mosrites, of course. I think that the controversy regarding the 1st Rick that Robin Zander is seen playing has been resolved. It's likely not Johnny's. The second Rick, with the butchered bridge pick-up, is one I'd like to see RIC re-issue. Why not? Unfortunately, I'll probably just have to build my own!

Johnny Ramone was also seen using a Rick in "Rock-N-Roll High School" (I Want You Around). That guitar, I believe, was simply used as a prop and was not his, nor ever used by him other than for that scene.

Look..someone told me they were cool basses so I bought one. I admired Squire but Geddy Lee made me buy JG.

Truth is, that Rickenbacker is responsible for me never learning how to play bass well. When I had my Sam Ash bass, I played the heck out of it, but when I sold it for a couple of dollars towards the Ric, the 4001 was so beautiful, and dare I say sexy that it had to be babied and polished properly before being put away. Sometimes I would just stare at it in the case, with the orange velvet felt warmly contoured in the backround...Playing it with the probability of scratching just seemed cruel.

Darn you Rickenbacker!
