My first influence had been Frode Jacobsen of "Madrugada" (Norway) and I admire the "Editors" ric sound!

Re: Top five responsible for Rickenbacker sales/popularity
1) Lennon's '58 325
2) Lennon's 2nd 325 ("Miami" - though I must admit I didn't realize it was a "new" one at first...)
3) Harrison's 1st 360/12s (most notably from the Hard Days Night film)
4) Lennon's 325/12
5) Harrison's second 360/12
6) McGuinn's 12
7) McCartney's 4001 bass
Ringo (John gave him his 325 FireGlo!)
I wanna add Beach Boys (Carl Wilson), Who, Hollies, Animals, and Kinks too... But most bands from the 60s seemed to use a Rick at some point, didn't they? Mostly because The Beatles did I'm sure... I know that's why I got into Ricks as well as music !

Johnny was best known for his use of Mosrites, of course. I think that the controversy regarding the 1st Rick that Robin Zander is seen playing has been resolved. It's likely not Johnny's. The second Rick, with the butchered bridge pick-up, is one I'd like to see RIC re-issue. Why not? Unfortunately, I'll probably just have to build my own!
Johnny Ramone was also seen using a Rick in "Rock-N-Roll High School" (I Want You Around). That guitar, I believe, was simply used as a prop and was not his, nor ever used by him other than for that scene.

Re: Top five responsible for Rickenbacker sales/popularity
Look..someone told me they were cool basses so I bought one. I admired Squire but Geddy Lee made me buy JG.
Truth is, that Rickenbacker is responsible for me never learning how to play bass well. When I had my Sam Ash bass, I played the heck out of it, but when I sold it for a couple of dollars towards the Ric, the 4001 was so beautiful, and dare I say sexy that it had to be babied and polished properly before being put away. Sometimes I would just stare at it in the case, with the orange velvet felt warmly contoured in the backround...Playing it with the probability of scratching just seemed cruel.
Darn you Rickenbacker!
