King's X - XV: Release Date May 19

Post by winston »

Kings X is set to release their 15th album on May 19, 2008 according to their record label insideOut.

Here is the press release:

InsideOut Announce:

"According to international music critics and rock gourmets, King’s X are among the most unusual acts in the history of rock music. The technical skills of the three band members, Ty Tabor (guitars, vocals), Doug Pinnick (bass, vocals) and Jerry Gaskill (drums, vocals), are above reproach, their creativity has impressed fans and media alike. Next to King’s X and Rush, there is currently no other rock trio capable of producing such a dense and at the same time transparent sound, the musicians from Texas continuing to lend with amazing elegance a noticeable lightness to their powerfully and dynamic compositions. As on their fourteen previous recordings, their latest album, XV, is another prime example of classy groove rock featuring a homogeneous liaison of great melodies, driving rhythms and tough guitars."

Doug P. is looking overtly frail these days.

Probably just worn out from lugging that 12 string bass around the stage.

I've loved these guys for a long time. Some of you will think this is sacrilege, but several years ago I had to pick between seeing King's X or Rush. There were a lot of reasons, but $25 to sit 10 feet away compared to tickets that were WAY more expensive and MUCH further away was part of the reason I decided to see the boys from Texas.....they rocked. They closed with "Over My Head".....I still remember it vividly.

John,

That would have been a tough choice. I believe that Kings X is one of the most underrated bands in the history of rock. They certainly did not attain the same the level of prominence as Rush, a band that they are often compared to.

I'm a bigger Rush fan than King's X...actually I am not a King's X fan at all...BUT...King's X are much more interesting to see live.

I'm a huge Kings X fan. I look forward to new music from them. I've seen their shows many times. Hung out with them after several shows. Ate dinner at the table next to Doug Pinnick's before a show. They are really cool guys. A band I was in opened for them a few years ago. That was a great night.

I must get out from under this mushroom............ never heard of Kings X. Probably heard them but as I descend toward senility I tend not to put the band name to the song!

Stick with me Aitch, I'll lead you into loads of unfamiliar musical territory. Just kidding of course.

Sometimes I think I live in a cave myself, because my sons are always introducing me to great new bands that I have only ever vaguely ever heard of. They both love music of course. In this case however, it was Orlando (my bass player in Pegasus) that turned me on to these guys quite a few years ago. They are great.

Brian....I had to chuckle when I read your post. My kids have the same effect on me. BTW, I think King's X is a band you could see live and really enjoy, even if you'd never heard anything they'd done...assuming of course that you enjoyed rock.
