I beleive we need to get John Williams in here to give us some info about this serial number, since he seems to own (or did own) most of Rickenbacker's output from the late '50s/early '60s! I think he or John Hall could give an accurate date based on the serial number. Just out of curiousity, David, where did you find your guitar? Did you go into the store looking for a Rick 360 or Capri?
"This is the big one, Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya, honey!"
Gene: From the RIC site 2T 3XX = 1953, 2T 4XX = 1954 and so on to 2T 9XX = 1959. Very interesting question about the 2T0 (zero) which could be a 1960 model if this logic continued in 1960.I thought that a serial # of 2T052 would be pre-60, wouldn't it?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

2T052 would be a 1960 model. The numbers following the V/T designation looped in 1960 just before they went to the new sn scheme (AA###). Some of these numbers (100 and on) had the potential to be duplicates- but the earlier holder of the numbers should have earlier features.
The earliest number in the older scheme that I know of is 2T100 (which I imagine is the first to use it- it's a prototype). I have 2V103, which was invoiced in April of '58 & has all of the original capri features.
Because the numbers looped, it's possible that there is another 2V103 out there- but it would have the more familiar Capri features like 2T052.

Gene....I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and there were not many RIC's around of any model, however, a friend who now lives in Paris, TX bought a 365 FG the year before and I just had to have one.
To the best of my memory, in Jan 1960 I placed the order for the MG 360 in the pictures and what you see is what I got.
The extra holes under the truss plate is what it came with. In addition to the refinish job before delivery and the run in the paint, it has never had a setup. I just kept changing strings. Obviously, the neck has been very stable and proves that the design was sound over time if you didn't mess with it.
I am going to treat myself and the 360 soon with a professional setup by the JH recommended gentleman in Orange County, Calif.
Anthony....thank you very much for the additional info...verrry interesting. Your 58' is truly amazing....I just love that thing!!
JH if you could find the time, it would be very revealing if you could find any invoice info on 2T052 and try to determine if it truly is a 60' model or if it was an earlier model used for some other purpose, then retrofitted to the latest model with a refinish after I placed the order.
