Apology For Interrupted Service

Post by admin »

The Rickenbacker Forum would like to apologize for the interruption in service over the past 16 hours.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

That's okay. I was probably at work at the time.

Another service interruption over night. Things back to "normal."

Blame it on the weather.

Well, I got a question. Why is it that whenever the text of messages, the titles of entries and so on are centered it becomes utterly difficult (takes too long) to access topics, to scroll up and down the threads list, whereas whenever the text is pushed to the left, as while I'm writing, accessing topics and scrolling up and down becomes very easy? Posting messages is not affected in any way in either instance.

Sergio: Jps has answered this question, it is the weather.

Kidding aside, I am not at all sure I have a proper explanation for you. There are several factors in play including the size of the topic area, the demands on the server and so on and the speed of your service provider. I would guess that there are greater processing demands on the forum in carrying out the former function as opposed to the latter.

I'll see what I can do at this end. As always, I very much appreciate your comments with regard to this matter.

I have observed one problem, it doesn't happen too often, but occasionally the text gets stretched out so that to read the whole sentence you have to scroll back and forth. It's a real PIA when it happens, and the whole section of a thread gets affected, but just one section usually, not the whole thread. Is this a local thing (as in the computer I'm using) or is it something to do with the server also?

It must be your computer, Bob, I've never had that happen.

Bob,
I have encountered the horizontal scrolling effect you described.
IIRC you are on "internet cafe" PC's so see if you can clear the Temporary Files cache in the browser. Refresh the screen and it usually resets itself.
Tools - Internet Options - Delete Temp FIles if they are using MS Internet Explorer.

That also happens when someone posts multiple images side by side like below:

When you post multiple images, how do you avoid doing that?
