I just bought Help! UK, Rubber Soul UK and Revolver UK on CD Monday afternoon. I've owned the US versions on LP (the first two on the Capitol Albums set as well), but hearing the UK versions and hearing how they evolved through just those three albums is incredible.

My Beatles albums from most favorite to least favorite:
Sgt Pepper
Rubber Soul
Revolver
Abbey Road
A Hard Day's Night
With the Beatles
The White Album
Help!
Beatles for Sale
Please Please Me
Magical Mystery Tour
Let It Be (Spector mix)

Man, I can't believe you put PPM so low. It's so raw, and (I'm presuming) evocative of the excitment of the Hamburg/Merseyside days.

To each his own, however.

I know I underrated it, I might need to get that on CD, when I get the chance. That or listen to "The Early Beatles", which is close enough, I guess.

Seriously, it was recorded in ~12 hours! PPM is solid.

We sometimes lose perspective as to when these albums/songs were recorded and what else going on at the time.

The later stuff is definitely my favorite – I’m a studio fan, but, the early stuff… :D

Lennon once said they were a "pretty good R&R band" – those early recording back that up IMO
