Re: what is the most expensive ric bass? rarest ric bass?
When I return home from Buenos Aires in July I will start taking pictures of all my basses as I will release a book devoted to the Rickenbacker bass. The book will feature very detailed pictures of every bass I own including pictures under the guards. I will request the permission to take pictures of a few basses I do not own. For example detailed pictures of Chris Squires bass would be nice. The books focus will be 50's 60's and up to 1973 as that is what I enjoy and collect. During the photo shoots I would host visits from anyone interested but would hope that Pete Andy John Gerry etc would visit and share thoughts and insight so the text of the book can come from several voices. I hope the factory will lend a helping hand

Daring move with such a valuable bass! Kudos. I know you will take the utmost care with it though.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread - it contains loads of information.
Here's my contribution. I'm the fortunate owner of RM 1999 DH 153, which I believe was one of the first two imported into Australia through Rose Morris. When Dave Pascoe was here last week, we spent some time going over the whole guitar. The neck has no issues at all and is very straight for it's age. To the best of my knowledge it's all original with no repairs or refinished sections.

Very nice! Glad to see some appreciation of the basses at the end of the run, they are just now starting to get the monetary appreciation they weren't getting a couple of years ago.vincent_gallo wrote: The books focus will be 50's 60's and up to 1973 as that is what I enjoy and collect.

Darren:
You're the lucky dog x 10.
That's a bass I'd own even though I'm left-handed, LOL....

It's a great bass. I played it for 4 or 5 hours at the Rick Jam the other week. Superb!
