Wall hangers/Bass Weight

Post by congerz83 »

Does anyone besides me employ the use of a wall hanger? I bought a Hercules Hanger for my 4001C64S. I needed to return in after a section of it cracked. With the new one so far so good. The website says "15lbs capacity" my bass (according to the bathroom scale) weighs only five pounds. Does anyone have the Hercules or reccomend others?

I can't comment on the hanger, but me thinks your scale is broken. Both of the V63's I've weighed were 9.5 lbs.

Richard, I think your first was a clinker. I use the floor stand model of that grip with no problems. JH has stated he also uses the same wall hanger.

I use string swing wall hangers, probably have 15 or so up in my house. I like how they look, and I've used them with everything from a ukulele to a 4003 with no problems whatsoever.

All my wall hangers are Hercules. I also have one of their microphone boom stands. They are great products. I have not experienced any issues at all.

All my wall hangers are Hercules as well. My '95 4003 has been hanging on one continually since I purchased, except when I'm playing it, and I've had no problems at all.

My bathroom scales are inaccurate at the lowest end of the scale (I guess they're designed for heavy objects primarily) so when I want to weigh something light I first weigh myself, then again but this time holding the object in question. The difference between the two is a more accurate measure of the light object's weight.

That's what I do too.

In any case, most Rick basses weigh around 10 pounds. My lightest is my Cheyenne (original 4004C) at about 8.5. I measured them on a pet scale where we check our cat's weight.

Now, if you want a lightweight bass, go for a German-made Höfner 500/1 "Beatle bass" checking in at just under 5 pounds!
