I have never heard any hint of a bass guitar in that chord and I've seen clips of George playing it live by himself and it sounded pretty much the same except it didn't chime as much which is to be expected. I think this guy is leaning a little too heavily on math and not enough on his ears. I have never met anyone who played it right though but then again I've only plyaed the song a few times and with no professional Beatle clone people.

I think you are right. There is nothing better than a musicians ear. But an additional fourier transform isn't bad, too.
Bob, there is a bass guitar in it, playing a D.
He should have taken the stereo version of the song to do the frequency analysis:
we have the 12 string and bass guitar on the left channel, and piano and 6 string acoustic on the
right channel. And the 6 string doesn't play only a single C6 note, but a chord.

I want to mention here Rob Taylor's Beatles to a tee DVD (vol 3)
He comes to a different solution. He also shows us how to play the outro.

I got all three DVDs in late Feb. They were worth EVERY penny!!! So much fun. I really learned a lot.

When KH and co. played the song at the 75th, it sounded pretty authentic to me.

So...for the layperson such as myself...how should I best play the opening chord on my Rick 360-12?

And since we're at it, how about the ending? I fumbled around until I found something close, but what's the real ending?

There's a few opinions like one of these is the opening chord, G7add9sus4, G7sus4, or G11sus4. And somewhere I read Harrison said it was an Fadd9. If those don't work try the video. I think I've used every one, at least once, but If none of these works to your satisfaction, you might want to move on to the next song. :D

The end I believe is a play on what George plays on the intro

I don't have a 12-string to use, but I'm sitting here with a 6-string acoustic strung with Nashville Tuning strings.
On the outro, I'm hearing:

Since those of us posting must be overly analytical, let's look at two offerings here.

tennis_nick suggests guitar 1 plays Fadd9 (the same fingering as the outro):

1 C
2 A
3 F
x
x

while guitar 2 plays a G power chord
x

5 G
5 D
3 G

bee_atles posting above is a G7sus4:
3 G
3 D
5 C
3 F
5 D
3 G

All that's missing there from the two-guitar approach above is the A note. Adding an A makes this
the G7add9sus4 (wouldn't that also be a G9sus4??) as buzfluhart suggested.

Now back to your regularly scheduled guitar playing. :-)
