Rick lead

Post by shamustwin »

OK, I'm no speedy player.
This is my 1997 RI played straight through my '90's Fender Blues Deluxe, no effects.
Song is something I'm working on. Just the end.
I like un-stomp-boxed guitars.
Second half of solo gets kind of a surf-y tone, IMO.
Bass is the 4005, rhythm are JL Casino and Gibson J-185 RI, all played by yours truly.
Screams, Me & Tim.
This is unmixed, as I said, a work in progress.

Choose "I Know I Know".

Other song I posted here before under New Wave Subject line.

Jerry it sounds good (tone and playing). There is not pre-requisite of speed in a lead that I am aware of. It just has to sound good - as this does. Please post the whole thing when all done.

Song: Don't That Beat All

A garage recorded demo from a band I was in in the early-mid 80's. Trying for a Wilson Pickett vibe. Oh well.
Me on Crown Beatle Bass copy, one guy on No Caster, other guy (lead solo) on LP.
The guy on No Caster went on to form the Lonesome Strangers with Randy Weeks. They were somewhat legendary in a local club scene way. Google 'em!
Am re-doing, will be on Shamus Twins III.

Sorry, no Rick content.
But I did buy my 4005 after having to give back my friend's above mentioned Crown bass.

Really great stuff. Speed (aka shredding) is overrated in my book. It often holds my interest for a few seconds, and then I think remember that line from Boogie Nights (won't describe the scene, because I might cause someone to blush): "Well, that's technically good, but where's the passion?"

The first Shamus Twins CD is great. If you haven't heard it, you should.

That was a Crown Beatle bass copy on that.
I really must redo this and smooth out the lyrics. But thanks, all.
