New E-Bay Policy PAY PAL A MUST
Has anyone seen this? If so what are your thoughts? I will start with "IT SUCKS"
All items listed for sale on eBay.com must offer PayPal as one of the payment methods.
All items appearing on eBay.com must be paid for using either:
• PayPal
• Visa/Mastercard (with transactions processed
by PayPal)
• Pay on pick up (i.e. paid for when picking up the item)
No other payment methods will be accepted.

I'm surprised it took this long for this policy to happen. I've been expecting it for over a year now.

That thread is specific to Australia, now it's on the US site, and as the other thread mentioned, Paul will be ******!

Re: New E-Bay Policy PAY PAL A MUST
Here's what Gary Clauson said, which I hoped sincerely would be true:
"I think that if eBay were to try this in the U.S., they'd immediately be slapped with legal action, both civil and criminal."
Looks like the bas***ds have found a away around it. Another mega-corporation--once a fun friend--has found a way to put its hand in my pocket.
It's a strange new world...

Personally, I laud this. I always prefer Paypal. I am willing to pay a bit for not having to finagle with folks.
Re: New E-Bay Policy PAY PAL A MUST
I use paypal too Charly, for the same reason, but to force it onto sellers....
Leprosy is rare & scarce but nobody wants that!

I like it except when I am selling big ticket items.

Re: New E-Bay Policy PAY PAL A MUST
I just checked out my seller preferences and I am still able to opt out of using PayPal. Someone got anything official from eBay on the subject?

Nope it IS in effect the USA. My friend in Pennsylvania tried to list a 1966 Fender Super Reverb last night and got the notice regarding Pay PAl .

Sorry, but that's wrong. I just now went to relist one of my 4003 basses as a test and it still gave me the option on whether or not I wanted to accept PayPal. I think your friend can go into his seller preferences and make it optional.
I'd like to see that notice.

If he's a seller that signed up after Jan 2007, I guess that may apply according to this:
