I'll bet he was! Paul, I believe you and Dale mark these with your name in some way - do you realize you will have a definite place in RIC lore and history in years to come? Can you imagine the story and hubbub surrounding the sale of this bass (or any of your and Dale's unique refins) say in 25 years or so? I hope I live that long and there's still a RRF in that time to read the posts on it.

I’ve often thought about that, John

That's exactly why two of my 73's finishes are going to be redone by Paul and Dale. There's no doubt in my mind they will be as valuable (or more) than the ones that are original.

Since the semester ended last week, i've been able to spend a lot more time on my customers' stuff, and besides several basses and guitars nearing completion, I've got several acoustics in the finishing queue now.

I'll be shipping four guitars this week and four LS conversions next week.

Here's a sampling of a couple of projects just nearing completion, a unique in all the world "artist's edition" bass and Graham's 360F:

The JG on Graham's F looks better than I thought it would....it'll be really nice when it's flat sanded and buffed.

This is great to see, Paul. More beautiful Rickenbackers for the world to enjoy.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Just pulled Graham's F out of the booth, hardening up nicely, too. The extra work spent getting the very wavy top flattened was worth it--it looks as flat as plate glass now. Still, this one will be a bear on which to do a perfect buff-out. I am eager to see it assembled and playable again.

IN not-too-distant future, and with John Hall's blessing, I will be building a replacement 4005 body for Graham, to replace a very badly-messed-up 4005 that he brought me for restoration. We determined that the original was too far gone to be saved, so I'm going to dig in and make a new one. This should be an interesting photo essay!

That will make a very interesting photo essay. Looking forward to that one. I really like the green bass and the dark woody burst 360/365(??) you are finishing up - gotta see those two all dressed out.

I've said this before, but as time goes by, I think that due to the quality of the work and history with the company, restorations by Dale and Paul will be worth as much as any factory finished Rick or perhaps more in the case of unique work or work that was done to make a particular guitar/bass more retrorickified.

That green/blue "C" bass looks terrific Paul! Please post some additional pics when its fully assembled. Aside from the custom finish, is it receiving any other special features?

#1 on the green bass, paul! is the color the same as the trans-green rickenbacker uses on the 4004cii's? (it looks a tad lighter in your pix)
