My husband! A few years back he surprised me with an anniversary present I would never forget....my very first Rickenbacker, my beloved 330 which is now the Purpleburst in my avatar....

But I suppose my husband likes Rickenbackers because of Geddy Lee.... He used to have a 4001 bass that he played around with a bit in college, but gave it up when he realized he wasn't cut out to be a musician.... Now he just enjoys buying Rics for me every once in a while. I suppose I love Rickenbackers because of all of the artists mentioned above, but really more because they work for the kind of music I like to make, and the types of songs I write.... and because they are so cool-sounding, and so beautiful to look at, too!

I've always been a Christian rock fan, and the first Christian rocker I was aware of who played a Ric was Mike Stand--here's the cover of a cassette of his I've had since the late 80's or early 90's....

Hi Howard! Lindsay was over in London (I believe) for a while on business. He still checks in here and should post somewhere soon, I'd guess. I was away for a while myself while we had another child and did a bunch of work on the house to add another bedroom, etc.

On the subject of the thread, I have to agree with Sheena's post, too, in that my involvement in this Forum has certainly deepened my understanding of Rickenbackers and made me appreciate them more.

Though I knew Paul had a Rick bass, I have to say it was Squire and the likes of Mike Rutherford, Derek Moore, and Gary Strater among others.

Chris Squire and Geddy Lee, in that order.

An honourable mention must go to John Entwistle who by all accounts inspired CS to get a Ric who then inspired GL and then finally at the end of this illustrious chain inspired me :D

Blimey, have I got a lot to live up to!  Some days I can't even remember which hand to hold my plectrum with...

Pete Buck, by a long shot. Maybe Tom Petty a bit, and seeing and hearing Dave Gregory (ex-XTC) playing a 360/12 when he toured with Aimee Mann a while back reignited my interest in Rick 12-strings.
