Looking for a 4001... HELP!!!!!

hey guys.... i've been looking for a 4001 for a while now, and i just seem to find the ones i want too late. ( + i live in korea right now. NO RICKS HERE!!!) idealy i'd like a '70s jetglo, but beggars can't be choosers. i'm not so worried about cosmetic injuries (dings, scratches, scrapes are ok... extra holes & frankenstien-isms are not) does anyone know of a sound, players instrument out there? any help would be brilliant. cheers

You just missed out on Owen's Jetglo '73! I'll keep my eyes and ears open, and check here because if something interesting comes up, it usually gets posted here.

Bob, not a Bassman, and not late '70s - it's a 1969 Dual Showman Reverb with its original 2x15" JBL D130F speaker cabinet. The cabinet has the JBL logo in the lower left corner which is cut off in the picture, unfortunately. Remember that I'm just a hack bass player, so I use it mainly for my 6- and 12-stringers... but it works great with the RIC basses, too. When the neighbors get too loud with their music, I go into the music room and plug in a 4001 or 4003 and boom-boom-boom back at them (think "We Gotta Get Outta This Place" by The Animals, or "Walk Away Renee" by The Left Banke).

Ahhh, reminds me of 1979. I'm graduating high schoool, working as a delivery boy in my spare time, saving my pennies.Got almost a grand together and went down to Sam Ash and purchased a jetglo 4001 and Sunn concert bass amp with the 2x15 cabinet. What a sound!

Gary, that is a cool Dual Showman, and I picked up on that right after you posted it, but man, I like that bass too. Does that picture really represent what it looks like? Is it a satin or gloss finish? Either way, its mighty purty!

I've never seen one of those before Gary, nice looking amp, looks in nice shape. I had a 67 Dual showman, and the neighbors didn't like mine either, but I used to start it not them, haha!

I used to have a Sunn Concert Bass amp and a Traynor 2-15 cabinet with EVM-15L speakers in it. That was back in my Disco/Top 40 days in the '70s! That setup sounded great. BTW, I was using my '75 4001 then. Kind of like Chris Squire meets Bernard Edwards/Maurice Gibb.

Did Chris Squire use Sunn?I'm pretty sure i bought the Sunn amp because John Entwistle did.

Sunn Coliseum Lead along with the 6x12, V-angled baffle, cab for the treble pickup and the Dual Showman with 2x15 cab when I saw them in Milwaukee right after the CTTE release.

Yeah, I was thinking the same...I believe there is an interview with him from the same timeperiod where he mentions using Sunn...
