Could you post a full picture of the guitar that you're using for your Avatar?

Thanks guys. It's an obsession. I can't just buy a normal black tolex amp, at least most of the time.
What's weird is that with girls I'm the complete opposite; I like girls with dark hair, but I like blonde amps..go figure...
Can't wait until so. Cal `08. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Here it is. Not great lighting on this picture. As usual, it's not easy to capture it's true beauty with my ****** digital camera.paologregorio wrote:Could you post a full picture of the guitar that you're using for your Avatar?

Desert Gold is a great color, Brian, congrats!
I have a blond nylon-covered Hot Rod Deluxe that sounds really nice and sparkly with my Rics. Of course, right after I got it they released the Blues Deluxe in real tweed (GRRRR...)
They're pretty cheap, too ($700 at our 'friend'.)

Someday I'd like a fawn AC-30CC2 or a '65 Twin R.I.

I've got two early '90's tweed Blues Deluxes. Very nice. I think the new ones are MIM.

Yes, all Fender amps, with the exception of the custom series ('59 Twin, Vibro-King, etc.) are either made in Mexico or China. The Mexican made stuff (Vintage Reissue, Hot Rod) is still great quality. I've been to the Mexican and American factories and they're very similar operations. Extremely hands-on. The Chinese stuff (Frontman series, Champion 600, Vibro-Champ) is, of course, of a lower quality, but not horrible.shamustwin wrote:I've got two early '90's tweed Blues Deluxes. Very nice. Hi Brian,
I have a 1963 Fender Vibroverb re-issue, and it's made right here in the USA per the data plate. I bought it new at GC when they were on Mission St. in SF. It dates back to about 1990, so it could be that they are now out-sourcing the vintage re-issues ( like everything else
)
Cheers,
Gary

Yes, I think it changed over in the early 2000's. At first they were just making the cabinets in Mexico, but now all Vintage Reissue, Pro Tube, and Hot Rod series amps are made in Mexico completely.modrock wrote:Hi Brian,

I have a new Fender Hot Rod Deluxe White Lightning. It has the Celestion Vintage 75 speaker. When I tried the standard and this one, this sounded even better.
Yes, they are made in Mexico, but this one still sounds fantastic. I am yet to start hoarding amps, but it could start happening at any time.

Re: What amp do you use with your Rics?
Well, thanks to Nathan and a couple other recommendations I'm officially a Zinky lovin' fool. I received my Zinky Blue Velvet 25W combo today, and WOW! It's incredible. What an incredible combo amp! I absolutely love it. The tonal versatility with just the one tone knob is blowing my mind. I can get everything from super-muddy, bass-heavy to super-harsh, jangle-fest tones. I'm in love. Though my Blues Junior had it's charms, this Zinky blows it out of the water. And man, is that tube reverb sweet. I can, without a doubt, highly recommend this amp to anyone. It sounds incredible with my Ric 6 and 12 strings and with my Gretsch. I can't imagine a better amp for me.
