I’ve recently become an effects pedal convert. After decades of plugging straight into my amp I’ve got some toys to play with on the floor. They are a Tech 21 three way pre amp thing (can’t remember its name) and an Ashdown compressor. After just a couple of gigs with these two I can’t imagine now gigging without them.
They both take 9 volt batteries and I know I will soon start to get paranoid that the power is below optimum. I have searched the net and found a couple of people do a sort of daisy chained single wall transformer that will power up to six boxes. That could be useful the way that I am going! The thing is they look really flimsy and are very cheap, about 15 UKP. I am not one to through money at something if it is not necessary but I would value opinions here on what sort of power supply would be very reliable, tough and not silly money. I live in the UK.
Now, who make a decent auto wah….?

I've always used the Jim Dunlop DC Brick. In fact, I used to use two of them simultaneously!
As for an envelope filter, look no further than the holy grail.

One thing to consider, particularly with pre-amps and compressor pedals, is noise. Pete Cornish recommends using batteries, or if not practical, power supplies that have seperate ground and common wires for each pedal. The wallwart with daisy chain connections does not do this. The Dunlop brick and Voodo labs supplies have isolated power feeds. Of course, very low capacitance cables are a benefit.

I made my own box to connect pedals to.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

I also recommend the DC Brick. An added benefit is being able to power two 18v pedals with it as well as the "normal" six.
