The Slowdown.....is it here ?

Post by VRICKY63 »

Looks like Rickenbacker Bass prices have leveled out or dropped a little . Much like home sales here in California . Guess the bad economy has hit the RIC market .
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !

I think so, yes, but it always depends to a degree on which model - how rare and what coveted details it has. We all know that.
For me personally, how will I know when it's down? if I need to sell my "collection" then the market will be "down".

I don't know...

That 72 that sold for over $5k from Japan last week could be a one off or a still rising trend. Let's see what that BG CB 73 does...

Mike,

You let me know if you sell that beautiful '71!

I was thinking prices were starting to go back up, but what do I know. :?

I know for a fact that some of the "mintier" 4001 from '71-'72 were going for upwards of 7k within the last 2 years.
(For a fact, because Elys got one, and I got one, and there may have been others I don't recall.)
In hindsight - you can see why I think that I definitely bought at a 'peak' of some kind.
I really doubt that I could get what I paid for my '71 today.

In light of that, it's hard to generalize.
The $5800 '72 from Japan last week was in better than average condition for an ebay bass of that vintage, and he did it RIGHT with the many very detailed and high quality photos.

I don't know anything - except from my own perspective.

It may be sooner than I intended...if I find the right house.

Maybe because Elys is not in the market to buy, the prices are back to more "normal" - he did not seem to mind paying a real premium..... And I do not mean to disparage him.

That's a good point. I am pretty sure he was bidding against me on mine. It's hard to beat a guy with seemingly endless money.
I sure as hell don't have it. I just REALLY wanted that bass...and not to flip, obviously, but should I need to do that it'll be awhile before I could without losing my butt.
Speaking of Elys...haven't seen him lately. Hope he's alright.

GW Bush....

Great idea-
With a HUGE nat'l debt, borrow more money from lord knows who,
to get a nation of debtors and surfs(in figurative terms...) to spend
more money on more things from China....

I think I'll send the White House a letter thanking them kindly for the
cheap prostitute!

Sorry-
I need to play with my Rickenbackers to escape this political mess.....

Is that what they intend for us to do with "our" money that they're giving back?
Oops, I was gonna pay down some debt with it. That'll show 'em!

It's just that it is NOT our money that they are giving back.
They gave our money away long ago when the surpluss was
spent and money was borrowed from other nations.
The feds then borrowed more money and said it was ours that they
were giving back.....
In fact, by doing this, the feds have only further made us (US citizens)
surfs to the lending nations.

Now, who said this was all about freedom anyway?
