It's here!

Post by fargobass »

As several of you know, I bought Jake's Monty Brown 4003 last week. It was supposed to arrive Saturday, but we got 8 inches of snow on Friday night/Saturday morning, so the bass sat in FedEx's warehouse in St. Paul for two extra days. I stayed home from work as long as I could, but then had to go in to teach my noon class: sure enough, the delivery showed up at 12:15. He left a note, I called, and they told me to come to the Fargo delivery center tonight.

It's my first Rick, so I hope you all don't mind me sharing the opening.....

Because of the cooler weather, I didn't leave it open for more than about 10 seconds (although neither the box nor the case was particularly cool to the touch, I didn't want to take my chances with finish cracking). My camera, as you can tell, isn't that great, so I hope Jake doesn't mind if I post a few of his pictures from the listing.

Thanks again, Jake, for the great deal! I am in Ric heaven right now. 8)

Very nice! When I read your first post, I was concerned for cracking, but I see you were fairly cautious. But if the case and bass had been outside all day in the truck and you opened it, even the brief time you had it open would have been enough to have it crack. For future reference...

Enjoy that beauty!

Thanks, John. I worried about that: before I went over to FedEx, I went back and read a couple of the old threads on here about cracking, just to make sure what to look for. It sat in the warehouse for almost two hours (we hit 50 today, miraculously), and then in the house for another hour. Because the case wasn't cold, I decided to risk it. But, lesson noted - thanks.

Once I plug it in (might not be until Thursday, because the next two nights are booked :( ), I'll post more pics.

Very nice....congrats! MB is one of those colors that looks far better in person than in pics. Most Rics do but some more than others.

I love sharing in the excitement from the box arrival through the unveiling, especially for someone's first Ric. In fact, I remember posting a very similar thread, and it wasn't all that long ago in the grand scheme of things!

Congrats, Mark, I think this one will be a great first Ric. You realize that you've just opened the floodgates, though, right?

Jake: Shhhh, don't tell my wife, OK? She thinks this isn't just the first: she thinks it's the "only"
