I had an in house comparision .
I had my Mesa,a 56 tweed Fender champ,black faced Deluxe,59Bassman tweed,A Rectifier Boogie,and a reissue AC30.
This was a room of tube amp freaks.
We were all blown away!
Thats when I got mine .You have to play with it and the online thing is too cool.

It's funny that the tube guys shy away from these, the more you know about older amps and the way they operate the better you can tweak a modeling amp.
I use some pretty darn convincing AC30 models, and I love doing McGuinn type sounds through either the JC120 or Twin models. Most people try these amps at dealerships where they aren't set up decently or the staff can't demonstrate what they can really do. btw - the model that drives the 660 into feedback the worst is a Soldano model I love.

I admit I'm a bit of a tube freak, but the bottom line is the sound that comes out. If it's good, it's good. All that matters is the tone. Interesting you both give thumbs up to the modelling amps because I just jammed with someone that was using a Line 6 and it sounded very good. I also recall a friend that used to play a 360 through a Roland Jazz Chorus. That was one sweet solid state amp and the Rick chime out of it was awesome. I also recall an old solid state Sun guitar amp - big flat sucker but sweet distortion. Main thing is don't give up on the toasters yet, if they do need repaired, once fixed you'll probably dig them.
