Finally, Hello all

Post by whojamfan »

I have lurked here since July of 2007 and post often on the Rickenbacker forum.
Since I have been here, I have bought a really cool Rick book, calander, coffee mugs, found great music and friendly folks, and gotten some great advice on numerous topics.

I kept meaning to post here, but just kept spacing(duuude), as I wanted my first post to be special.

I hope to be a participating element in this site, and look forward to give my 2 cents in every now and then. Scratch X/Zymol and the Janglebox are all items I own, support, and use. Nice to not have some things edited, or have to dance around.

I have a 330FGVP, 360/12FGVP, and a 4003AFG with a toaster in the neck. I have owned various 6 and 12 string Ricks fo 26 years and am a lover of their looks, sound, and playability.

I cannot get the avatar thing to work for the life of me, but am a computer knucklehead and maybe a kind soul can help. My avatar works on several other sites, but I can't get on this one.

I have to say to Jim k, I hope and pray when you finally get your Rick it is absolutely stunning and perfect. You, by far, have one of the best attitudes I've ever seen for someone waiting so long for his first Rick. You give such positive and enthusiastic support for a guitar you have never played by a company you have never dealt with. John Hall himself should bring it to you personally, IMHO. It's wierd, I feel I want you to get your guitar as badly as you do.

Anyways, glad to finally make my first post and it certainly won't be my last. You really are a nice bunch of folks and am happy to be here.

Hey Mike,

That was a great first post. I still remember the trepidation that I felt as I was posting for my first time. The warmth of the reception that I got made me realise that all my misgivings were for nought. Here I am a few short years later approaching my 5000th post. I never thought that I would see the day where I would participate on any forum to that degree. The members of this forum are like an extended family.

I hope you stick around long enough to feel the same way and to approach a similar milestone.

Cheers,

Brian

Welcome, Mike. You've got a collection of nice Rickenbackers going there. I've got a few 4003's and a 660/12 myself.

I wasn't having much success with the Avatars at first either. I was using Photoshop Elements, but I just couldn't get the file size small enough. What eventually worked for me was actually posting my photo on my MySpace page, then doing a "Save As" right-click from the MySpace page. It was close to what I needed, then I used Photoshop Elements to resize it to the proper dimensions. It gave a nice, small file size, but still a fairly useable Avatar. I'm sure there are even better methods that folks here on the Forum can help you with. It's a very helpful place, all around.

G'day Mike,

Welcome! Nice to see you over here after following some of your input on the Ric corporate site. It's bit more mellow over here.. but it still rocks!

Welcom Mike, this is a great place.

If you use Adobe photoshop, under the "file" button click on "save for web". This takes you to a screen that allows you to size your photo to exactly the correct size.

Hi Mike.

I wanted my first post to be something special too, but then one night I had a little too much wine, and the next thing I knew I woke up and felt different somehow different, all cheap and dirty. And to make matters worse, RRF didn't even call me the next day... :?

Welcome Mike! :D

You need not have waited to post until you had something amazing to say however; my first post was a bit dopey-it was something to the effect of "hey, is it okay if I attned the So. Cal. Confluence"?

In any case, welcome to the forum. It's a really fun place.
