Playing with the controls show just how versatile the VTB is, I am in love with all the new sounds I am getting.

The perfect distortion pedal!
I have been searching for a lonnnngggg time for just the right pedal that did not mess with the tone of my basses but just added what I wanted to to mix. I finally found it with the Tech21 VT Bass pedal!
Rejoice one and all.

For me the perfect pedal is two pedals ... I find mixing a modern clean signal and a dirty retro mid growlly signal together is the best for my taste.

Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
I just read the review of the VT in Bass Player yesterday and thought it worth a try. Thanks for the confirmation, Jeff.
Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
So far, the VTB sounds great with all my basses. I think this will be my new recording preamp going direct. I used the preamp section of the Mesa/Boogie DC-2 I used to have for RBs last CD and I think this may sound even better, certainly more versatile.
Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
Jeff, are you still using compression with the VTB?
Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
I recently picked up an EHX Blackfinger tube compressor- It has 2 gain stages- you can crank the first one and get a great saturated tube OD. A really good solution if you're after soft 'phatness' rather than buzz-saw grind. My guitarist (Strat/Fender Deluxe) has started using it as his on stage distortion of choice (when I let him

Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
I was checking out that pedal at the NAMM show. No one was demonstrating it at the booth when I was there. Sounds like something I should add to my pedal board.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
I haven't combined them yet; I am just goofing with the VTB by itself at the moment, learning it's sounds. For recording I will most likely put the APF in front of the VTB. APFVTB!johnallg wrote:Jeff, are you still using compression with the VTB?

Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
I oredered a VT bass tech21 pedal from americal musical supply ... with my pedal setup I can combine 4 parallel signals so I am thinking of running 3 or 4 different effects and combining them back into a mono signal to run into my amp ...
Re: The perfect distortion pedal!
I am looking forward to your review, Jeff.

In the second soundclip I can really hear some Geddy jazz bass tone.
