Eight Miles High - backing tracks
Along time ago, someone had posted a link to some instrumental backing tracks for Eight Miles High. Does anyone recall this or know what I'm referring to?
I remember 2 or 3 different tracks. All instruments. Bass and ryth, etc.

Re: Eight Miles High - backing tracks
The only Eight Miles High backing tracks I'm aware of are from a bootleg CD called Tambourines & 12 Strings. [There's also a different, similarly titled boot that's just another live Clarence-era CD]. But the instrumental backing tracks on Tambourines & 12 Strings are from alternate versions of Eight Miles High, not the released versions.Johnny Remainz wrote:Along time ago, someone had posted a link to some instrumental backing tracks for Eight Miles High. One place you might investigate is http://www.sugarmegs.org. There are quite a few Byrd bootlegs there, some correctly titled, other not. It would definitely be slow going, as all the collections are streaming audio. I can't guarantee you'll find what you're looking for, but it's actually not a bad way to spend an otherwise boring Sunday afternoon.

Re: Eight Miles High - backing tracks
Hi Johnny,
I have that backing track, I just need to figure out how to make it accessible. I don't recall where I got it, unfortunately.
There are two stereo tracks, one has the full mix (not the Byrds), and the other is just drums and bass.
I almost trashed the full mix track but I realized that when I put the drum & bass track into (I'm a Mac guy) Garage Band, I needed the full mix track as a "guide" to know when to come out of the solos and such.
I'll dig them out of my collection post them somewhere, and come back with a link.
BTW Steve, LOVE the Janglebox!
Cheers,
CO

David: Thanks for making these files available. Listening to them is a great learning experience and gives one a whole different appreciation of the recording.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Eight Miles High - backing tracks
Does anybody still have this around somewhere, or know of a torrent or site where I can get it? I missed out on the original posting and the link expired on me, but I would like to hear the demos.
Thanks, guys!

Hey, sorry for the delay. I forgot about the file sharing site and the account lapsed.
Here is the link to the file:

Be warned, it's around 70mb, so be patient.
Also, if anyone's interested, I made a backing track for Turn! Turn! Turn! It's my first attempt at making a backing track using a midi file and Reason sampled instruments, so it's not perfect but it does the job.
Turn 3
BTW, if anyone has some decent Byrds midi files, I can use to make BTs, please let me know, thanks!
Have fun!

Thanks David. Now let's see if I really do have those McGuinn licks down.
