Custom Pick Guards
Considering buying a custom pick guard (from pickguardian) for my fireglo 330, but would like to get an idea of what colours look like before I order.
If you have changed out your white guard for another colour - show her off here for me (and everyone else) to gawp at!
Cheers

Gawp what a great word!
John what finish are you after? The White Pearloid looks real nice.

Interesting that "gawp" is an old English form of slang from the 1800's that see little use these days (in North America at least). It can also mean yawn if used with the correct inflection and in a sentence structured to convey that meaning. That's probably why the word "gawk" is more commonly used.

I am doing well as usual Scott. Don't be a stranger no matter where I appear on the board.

I don't know. I can dig tortoise on a sunburst J-bass but nothing else, and pearloid looks gross on everything to me now. I'd stick to white, gold, & black on a Ric. But that's just mejohnt wrote: Not sure till I see some examples really, pearloid might be good, as might gold, or tortoise or black or....![]()

Paul W has an interesting black and gold combination on one of his guitars. It looks great. I wish I would have kept a copy of it. Perhaps he will spot this thread and post it again.

Re: Custom Pick Guards
If and when my 650D shows up I'd like to have the pickguard redone in black chrome but keep the control knobs chrome.
I think it would go well with the black/silver truss rod cover and black/chrome pick-up arrangment.
Maybe someday RIC will have replacement pickguards available again for the 650D?
Then again, probably not now that it discontinued...

Re: Custom Pick Guards
On the Pickguardian website, all of the different colors and patterns are nice to have as options, but just a little square saying what the color is makes it difficult to really imagine what the guard might look like on your instrument. Maybe they could digitally have a way to pick color and instrument and get a picture of what it could look like. Also, do they switch out your TRC with one that matches the pickguard?

Re: Custom Pick Guards
If only it were that easy... We'd probably see a lot more Ricks with gold or black guards if the world was like that.whojamfan wrote:Also, do they switch out your TRC with one that matches the pickguard?
Re: Custom Pick Guards
Yet another bummer in customizing your instruments. Too bad RIC can't have Pickguardian be able to swap your TRC for a custom color one, like they do at the factory for a replacement. You could send your TRC to RIC, and they could send authorization to Pickguardian to make you one to match your custom pickguard.
What's the big deal, people would pay for it, and there could be some very unique, personalized instruments out there.

Re: Custom Pick Guards
I replaced the top guard on my JetGlo with checkerboard. Kept the bottom guard white. I think it looks really cool and so does everyone else who sees it. You might look at patterns with white in them and consider that... Gold on the FireGlo looks really neat too but then the truss doesn't match. I've looked and I really don't have a very good PIC though.
Sorry.
