Big Props To John Williams...

Post by wints »

Yes, we all know how cool a guy JW is, but just in case you wasn't sure, here's another example of what a great guy he is...

I find a very nice bass on CL and the guy's home town rings a bell...

"I know someone from the forum is there" methinks, and a quick piece of detective work reminds me it's our own JW. A call to Leftybass in the evening gets me a cell number and I call John with brief details. The guy who is selling can't understand why a guy with an British accent in Florida, can get a guy, who he's never met, to pick up a bass for him, while taking his kids to school... :D

Needless to say, the next morning John has the bass, and today it's here... 8)

Again, many, many thanks John. What a guy!

You have to love this place...

Great looking bass, Andrew! I have come to prefer those square corner surrounds, like that on my March '73 4001; these would look great together. :D

Aww shucks ya'll...

I always enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Ok, it was Andy's hunt but it was still enjoyable. The guy who sold the bass to Andy lived 1.3 miles from my parents' old house.
Now, of course, I'll be searching for one of these 4001s for myself!

The thrust of all this, and I know it's been said many times before, is what a wonderful place this forum is. It's nice to get get new gear, but that's a distant second to the friendships that this place has created. Hats off again, to Peter M.!
