ric 4003 1995 bass

hi i just bought a 1995 4003 bass i want to fit new medium gauge strings with a bright sound any recommendations and any advice for the best strings to use appreciated dont want to do any damage to the bass thanks staffy

I recommend that you use the Search function, as there have been many, many previous posts on what strings people use on their basses. You'll have to sort through a lot ... here are a few I pulled out:

thanks doctor who im going to try ric strings gauge 45 55 75 105 and see how they go could you recommend how to get the classic yes /rush sound what effects should i get any further help appreciated i realise much of it is down to playing style technique etc but im looking to get some effects to pursue my goal many thanks staffy

What gear do you have currently amp and effects-wise? For a great distortion and just a great tone shaping pedal I recently got a Tech 21 VT Bass pedal that sounds just fabulous with my Ricks and other basses.

hi jeffrey i have a 40 watt kustom combo and boss pedals comp sust / chorus /g equalizer/ overdrive 3 mostly use the overdrive pedal i bought a pre amp on ebay and it didnt work getting a refund a thus looking for a good new effects pedal il check the spec of the tech 21 effects pedal i was looking at line six gear what do you think of them any good im thinking of fitting the vintage push/pull tone control to my bass do you think this is a worthwhile modification any info appreciated thanks staffy
