I thought I should start this thread off with some trivia on The Righteous Brothers. Feel free to add some not so well known trivia about other famous artists


The Righteous Brothers' hit "Unchained Melody" was never intended to be a single. It was recorded as an album cut and later pressed on the "B" side of the 45 "Hung On You". When it was released, DJs flipped the disc over and "Unchained Melody" quickly rose to #4 in the US and #1 in the UK.

It's not widely known but Cher was a background vocalist on the Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling".

Ellen Foley sang the female parts on Meatloaf's Paradise by the Dashboard Light.
She also dated Mick Jones of the Clash for a while, sang backing vocals on some songs on Sandanista and all four members of the Clash appear on her 1981 solo record, including some songs that were co-written by Jones & Strummer.

Talking about BTO, these are probably not widely known facts but Randy Bachman is a devout Mormon. One of his guitar is idols is Hank Marvin who incidentally is a devout JW.

When Decca Records first released "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley And His Comets in the Spring of 1954, most people had never heard of Rock And Roll and the company had a hard time describing the song. The label on the single called it a "Novelty Foxtrot."

Brian, Cher was also a backup singer on The Ronettes "Be My Baby." Apparantely she sang so significantly louder than the other back-ups , Spector made her sing several steps away from the mike.
