A Fleeting Milestone

Post by winston »

The substance of my contributions have been lost like my ephemeral youth to the passage and ravages of time. My first post like a new dawn was quickly replaced by another and another. It is true one can look back and read from a historical perspective, but one can never truly experience the environment that has acted upon and permeated historical facts.

I have sped and sometimes galloped towards an unseen finish line and it has culminated in my 5000th post.

At this juncture it seems perfectly reasonable that I should give thanks:

Thanks to John and Ben Hall, as well as the great team at Rickenbacker who produce the instruments that are so dear to me, to Peter and my close friends on this forum who have become part of my extended family. I give thanks to those who ignore my shortcomings and my attempts at humour. I also give thanks to those who read and participate in the section of the forum that Peter has placed his trust in me to guide as I see fit. It is a trust that I hold dear and it is a mission that I hope continue until I have either run out of subjects of interest, or until a person better suited for the job at hand comes along.

In truth, it is the family like atmosphere of this forum that makes me keep coming back.

Tomorrow will bring a new day and a new target will likely be sitting between the unseen crosshairs. I doubt that I will ever double this number of posts as some have, but if you will continue to indulge and support my musings I will make a valiant effort to get there.

A simple thanks does not seem enough at any time that you receive more than you give, but right now at this late hour it's all I have left to give.

Thanks.

Brian

Yes well done Brian as Julie Andrews once said Let's start at the very begining which was 30/12/07.

So an average of 38 posts a day since, superb

So you have walked 5000 miles already instead of just 500? Cool. Congratulations. That seems like a lot.

......... a new target will likely be sitting between the unseen crosshairs.
Ha!!! You and I both know that there will be 'seen' crosshairs and a new target will emerge, Brian!!!

Many, many hearty congratulations, my friend. I recall you telling me not all that long ago that you were considering reducing your posts and becoming more of an observer. So much for that idea, eh??

I'm proud that I can count you and Penny amongst my closest friends, Brian, and am ever grateful to Peter for providing the opportunity for us to commence and constantly strengthen that friendship.

See you in August!! :D

Sheena,

You most likely would appreciate that my current "Jolly Roger" avatar "speaks" to the rebel in me. It is not permanent, in fact will be leaving us soon. Once I get over my rebellious mood.

Evan, at my age that millstone is a heavy burden at times.
