Go for it Bob. What it does not show on all the photos is that the back of the bass and neck are not black but a very dark, rich purpley blue, this then fades into the burst on the front. In real life it looks fantastic. I also changed my TRC for a plain one. The $ is just too tacky!

They go for around 700 - 750 US and at that price I think they are a steal and a future investment. They weigh quite a bit less than a Les Paul 6 string (thank God!) and feel very comfy. Exact weight I'm not sure but about the same as most 4001's at a guess.

The $ on the TRC reminds me of a landing on a Monopoly game board.

I played a real similar Hamer at the local mom and pop music store this weekend. Nice neck,,,very heavy,, had one of those tacky "matte" finishes.

Had one delivered yesterday. What a great bass! Sounds amazing, very easy to play. Beautiful flamed maple top in Midnight Manhattan. I too got rid of the tacky $ truss rod cover and replaced it with a plain one. Got it for $625. Weighs 9.6 lbs.

Nice one Erik. Yes they are great basses, when the truss rod is not buzzing, still haven't got mine back yet :( Nice neck, a bit like an early 70's Ric IMO. :D Going past the 20th fret is fun...

I don't know anything about the Money bass but my new T-Bird has become my favorite bass, it was made very well unlike other's experience with them and I got my sight unseen from AMS, it sounds great and plays great, the only problem I hAVE IS THAT IT'S NOISY WHICH i FIND KIND OF STRANGE IN A BASS WITH HUMBUCKERS. (woops) I just recorded a demo with it and the engineer loved it, I have Chromes on it. I agree with Ilan, truss rods will usually vibrate when they are too loose inside the cavity.

I picked up a Money Bass a couple months ago, and I love it. The bass was one (well, two, in two different colors) of Gibson's Guitar of the Week models from last year, and I think that after a certain time some distributors decided to just get them out of inventory---I can't figure out any other reason why they were being blown out so inexpensively by multiple sellers. I agree that they will probably be decent investments, certainly at the fire-sale prices, since almost everyone who has reviewed one has had good things to say about it, and the word will eventually get around.

Can't say I dig the money bass, but the SG-shaped Gibson basses have always caught my eye. Not the best basses, but they're really fun to play.

I have a 70 EB-3 which sounds really good. never heard a Money bass but doubt they'll hold their value if they are not selling and need to be "blown out" of the stores.
