Oh Deer

Post by admin »

I thought that some may be interested in the following photo taken on the trail a few miles from where I live.

What a great sight. We have approximately 10 deer that routinely winter in our back yard. It is great to see them bedded down for the night. That's an incredible photo Peter. Hopefully the snow is no longer with you.

That's not too far from here either! I read that they were all out like this because the snow was too thick in the woods for them to be able to find food.

Nice. Reminds me of where I grew up in PA. While still in high school, a friend & I were driving home late one night when a huge buck jumped out in front of us. We t-boned it. The deer got up and ran away. The front end of my friend's truck was destroyed. I had to sit half out of the passenger side window holding a flashlight so we could see the road well enough to get back to his house. Good times.

Looks like a woman's convention. No bucks that I saw. Michigan's not quite that bad, but if you are out in the county or on the interstate around dusk you see deer coming out of the treeline and feeding on what the harvesters missed. I've had to stop right in the city a half mile from my house for the deer to cross on the way to the river. Always a pretty sight. Heck, I've had 3-4 deer right outside broadcast house in the heart of the 'Zoo at midnight. That was a surprise. Very nice picture, Peter. How close could you get to them to get that picture?

There are two humans at the top of the photo. I would say that is pretty close!

You'll never see that sight during hunting season.

That was quite a while ago I assure you!

Where I live (about 2 hours from Peter) It's been a bit cold, but no snow for a while, I think we've been snow free since around april 27
