I'm with Bruce, you were very close to a tornado. I've been through one breaking up, and I'll never forget the green of the sky. Sure glad as hell you and kitty made it through okay. Check the roof for holes in the shingles, especially in the valleys.

I'm still sort of taking it all in. Austin got pummeled pretty hard which is super rare.

There are reports on grapefruit sized hail in Austin. Glad to hear that you're okay.

Wow, scary indeed,
The weather here in Israel is pretty stable, we never had a hurrican, tornado or anything similar... I guess we are lucky in that aspect.
I am glad no one got hurt...
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Sean, I'm glad you're okay. You're right - the tornadoes and violent t-storms usually seem to track between Dallas and Oklahoma City. I lived in Oklahoma City for several years (it's where I met my wife). I never had any tornado experiences there, but she's been thru several. In 1998, she had a tornado dump somebody's boat on top of her car, which was parked in the driveway. The boat's owner lived 15 miles away. The frequency and severity of the t-storms and tornadoes in "Tornado Alley" are due to the geographic intersection of the prevailing weather patterns of the hot/humid air coming north out of the Gulf of Mexico and the cool/dry air coming out of the Rockies. Where those two patterns intersect is where the danger is.

Glad you're okay, and the truck will get fixed....

Glad you're OK, Sean!

I experienced golf-ball sized hail once back in Illinois. It was probably summer of 1980, and it happened during the day while I was at work. It was both frightening and fascinating to look outside the windows and see these large hailstones bouncing all over the place. Fortunately, they didn't break the plate glass windows at work, but they did a number on the cars parked outside, including my Subaru Brat. Additionally, right after the hail stopped falling, it got so foggy that one could not see across the street.

Several years ago, I had both of my cars damaged by a hail storm in El Paso. Had both repaired ($6,500 total), only to have my insurance increased.

The company's reasoning was that I had made two claims within a year. Wound up switching insurance companies.

Empathize with you, Sean. Out here those storms are more common than anyone would care for. I wasn't here 30 something years ago when the entire city was blown off the map. Some called it the 'urban renewal' tornado. Others said it didn't do enough damage.
