Sounds more like the high drone reed to me - Kind of like a duck call only higher and slightly more musical. Chanter reeds are a bit more squeeky. It helps to unwind the hemp wrapping around the bottom of the reed and smoke it first before you try this procedure at home. Have you ever seen the instructions on the internet for making your own bagpipes from PVC pipe? If they don't work out, you can always add that little half-bath that your wife has been bugging you about.

Probably not rock and possibly a synth rather than bagpipes but "Alone" by the Bee Gees has that ethereal bagpipe sound.

It was certainly a synth at their 'One Night Only' gig in Las Vegas...........

I was gonna mention the "Dropkick Murphys" , but I got on this late.

Scotty, "Big Country" also launched those Yamaha double cutaway les pual type guitars. I had one I bought off of Tito Jacksons tech where all of the hardware, pickguard, and anything that wasn't wood, was brass. Very pimped out, I used it as a backup for my Les Paul Custom on tour. That neck was fat as a baseball bat where it met the body. I ended up having to sell it to pay rent.

Q: Did you hear about the musician that won the lottery?
A: Toured till he was broke.
