no horseshoes in the damn way

I love the look and sound of the shoes on my V63(s). I play them with fingers right behind the shoes and don't even notice them being there.
However, I've been playing these two shoeless oldies around the house with a pick and could get pretty used to not having the shoes there. They would be right where I would want to pick, especially on the 21 fretter with the smaller spacing between the tailpiece and bridge pu.
(Don't tell Jeff Thomas I just said that!)

To me, they are right in the "sweet spot" where one can alternate between the treble side, or bass side of playing. Tone achieved from the fingers in this area, is the most versatile imo.

After playing my P bass, I find it hard to go back to a Ric with shoes, or wearing a cover.

I'm planning a sanctuary for all those lone, and discarded pieces of chrome.

As I player I can understand the big contribution of the toaster.
As a collector - I wonder if and how much will the modification harm the value of this vintage bass.

Not much, since I believe Kevin stated that no mods were made to the body and he has the original PG.

Resale value is going to be an issue for my heirs to deal with, as I'm keeping all of my rics!

Kevin, nice job and I hope to see it at RIO if I can get there.
