Part-Time Teaching Excellence Award
Professor Peter McCormack was recognized with the 2008 Part-Time Teaching Excellence Award. He was chosen for the award because of his devotion to his students and his involvement in the greater community. McCormack has been teaching in the Psychology and Gerontology Departments for 26 years and students consistently rank his teaching at or above his department’s and the university’s average.
“His students report that his courses are interesting and informative, and they especially appreciate the way he incorporates examples from his clinical practice into his teaching. His classes are always filled to capacity, his course evaluations are solid, and we feel fortunate to have him as a member of our teaching faculty,” said Psychology Department Chair Dr. Kim Fenwick.
“I try to use my knowledge of psychology by offering a teaching strategy that will serve best the students I teach. At the very same time, I too am a student of pedagogy, searching for a new and more effective means to reach students whose learning difficulties are not always transparent and easily understood,” said McCormack.
