Thanks Melibee!! New Purpleburst!!!
Thanks to a lot of inspiration from Melibee's 330, I have received a new Purpleburst 360/6 courtesy of the fine luthier Paul W.
Color is rich and deep and setup is great. We added gold pick guards and TRC as well and it came out great.
Ever since I saw Melissa B.'s 330 I thought a PBR would look good in my collection. So I found a good deal on a Mapleglo 360/6 on E-Bay and had it shipped directly to Paul (yes, THE Jingle Jangle). He worked his color magic on it and she arrived today. So since I had never even seen or played this guitar in person, it was a double treat to open the case.
Have a look here:

Below it is a Tangerineburst 330 Paul did last year with Bigsby.
I am getting quite the Kaliedoscope here! Thanks Paul!!
Best,
Tim of the Deep

Re: Thanks Melibee!! New Purpleburst!!!
To be fair to both you and Melissa, Tim, your 360 and her 330 are two different shades of purple...hers was custom-matched, and is a bit redder than yours; yours, in turn, is a bit bluer. I had promised Melibee that her PBR would be a unique shade, and that I'd keep it as her exclusive.
I understand that John Fogerty's son ordered a 370 from RIC, painted PBR, inspired by one of the photos I posted of Melibee's 330.
BTW, Tim, that geetar got there FAST!

Hi Paul,
Amazingly fast. Thank you.
Yes, I can see the difference. This is a bit deeper into the violeto. Whatever mix you concocted, it worked for me.
Very nice work.
Maybe Prince will order one as well!!

Purple is the best color I've ever seen on a Rickenbacker. Nice work, Paul!

Re: Thanks Melibee!! New Purpleburst!!!
I've never been overly keen on purple anything but in this case I'll make an exception.
It is a beautiful guitar, Tim.
Paul W you have done it again !!!

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
Re: Thanks Melibee!! New Purpleburst!!!
Congratualtions, Tim. I cannot imagine anyone being able to match this unique finish without the formula. How do they get the purple in Rickenbackers, anyway?
Curmudge, you have done it again. What a great colour. This instrument caused me to reflect on the origins of purple which is a study in itself. While I only scratched the surface, I was intrigued to find that the colour is obtained from the dye of a mollusk that actually, at least in the beginning, was much more expensive than gold. Hence the royal origins it would seem.
For me, each time I look at it, I see something a bit different. Outside of striking, the colour itself almost defies description. I will go with beautiful for now.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

WOW! Both this purple burst and the tangerine 330 are gorgeous. You have impeccable taste, Tim.
Re: Thanks Melibee!! New Purpleburst!!!
I dress poorly, as most folks on Guam know.
However, I do know an awesomely colored guitar when I see one, as you folks do as well.
PW has been trying to talk me into a LemonBurst.
Has potential. eh!!!
Now, which model??? 381V69/12 Lemonburst. Wackadoo!

PS, I'm trying next to sing as nicely as Melisssa. That may take a while.

Another superlative finish, Paul. One eventually runs out of ways to describe your fine work...they've all been used.

Thanks, Forumites!
Your remarks have re-energized me to scrape and crush another batch of molluscs.

I'll say it again...
That Purple is the best finish I have seen on any instrument. Outstanding!
Someone needs a bass this colour...(me...

That tang'er is very cool too....
