+1 on what Greg said. A packed house and great music!
It was a brilliant show and the guys were in great form...... and a very serious bunch they were, too!
Poor old Trotty was buzzing around around like a blue-assed fly and I'm sure it was a very, very long day for him. Well done to Robyn and the kids for manning the merchandise table and providing Darren with much needed support.
I too will be waiting with bated breath for "Airway Lanes: LIve At The Chapel".
I can't believe that the big event has come and gone already!
Everything ran like clockwork all Saturday, thanks to the great team of professionals now surrounding Airway Lanes. The sound system was state of the art; the lighting was just right; the venue staff and management were very helpful and there were smiles all round by the end of the night.
We had a minor problem with the merchandise supplier on Friday night - he didn't print any of the t-shirts we had ordered three weeks earlier, despite numerous emails and phone calls from us. You should have seen Robyn carve this guy up - with lines like "what part of *&*&$#@* Friday don't you understand?" She was totally on fire and tore shreds off this guy. Robyn spent most of Saturday sourcing an alternative t-shirt supplier and then stood over the original supplier while he printed the artwork. I should point out that Robyn usually displays such a calm, gentle demeanor. To see her in total "rock-*****" mode was way cool! The paint was just dry by the time the shirts went on sale. My family was exceptionally supportive in the planning and running of this event - I couldn't have done it without them.
The band sounded fantastic and the brass section certainly added to the evening. We're going to use them again for the next major performance on June 4, which will have many industry attendees. The challenge is to maintain and build upon this momentum and to get more radio airplay.
It was tremendous to see Greg, Aitch, Joe and Frank in attendance, too. These guys have supported the band and I from the very beginning and I very much enjoy having them along for the ride.
The best photos I've seen from the night were taken by Tim Chuma, a local rock photographer who has very kindly given us permission to use his photos. You can view them here:- http://photos.timchuma.com/AirwayLanesC ... index.html
Howard, you are too kind. You are close to achieving honorary New South Welshman status like Dave and Graham. A few more pints will tip it in your favour.
Now wouldn't that be something to tell the grandkids?
