I could be wrong, but Shawn Luckman has a copy of this poster and he is convinced that thats my CS in the picture!
I have a rough photocopy of it but if I could get a close up of the headstock from a good copy of this photo I could tell for sure.

Here is the best I could get from the poster - it is a dark headstock to begin with, then you get flash reflections. I took 6 pictures and this one shows the grain of the Vermilion the best.

Hi John,
That is certainly my bass.
The tell tale streaks and the pale "splodge" next to the "A" string post are all there.
Here is another shot of Chris posing with my bass and you can see the headstock in this one although the photo isnt that great in print.
This is from the interview and photo shoot Guitarist did with Chris and (what was three days later) my bass in early 1991.
I think I will get in touch with the editor of Guitarist and get another set of prints from their slides.

And on a technical note,it has Rickenbacker bass strings on it in the picture.
They were nice strings as I remember but not being available at the time I soon changed them for Rotosounds.
If I get the slide of this shot from Guitarist I can make a poster for forum members only.
No charge.
Fingers crossed.
By the way,has anyone heard about any autumn UK dates for Yes?

Heres yet another shot from the pages of Guitarist.
I looked at the register photos that I posted and the shadow of the "A" string post covers the pale blob I mentioned.
The Vermillion is dead hard to pin down on one shot so the marker as it were for me is the streaking at the bottom near the "G" string and the dark streaking lines across from above the A to E strings plus the blob of pale grain near the A post.
I just watched an episode of Inspector Morse by the way!
It must have rubbed off.

Very cool, Pete. That means that I got to play the same bass that Chris holds in the poster. Reason enough for me to get one of those. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get a CS as well:)

Sounds great Pete, what a pedigree!

Count me for a pic if you would!

Jim,

Now, I've been saying that since I've known you!

Pete, that is indeed very neat! I've heard the story of how you got your CS so it all makes sense and falls together. And you have multiple pictures of Chris with it. I'd be up for a print also.

The picture of Chris with the Ric bass used for the poster, was taken when Rickenbacker had there UK office in Bury(about 10 miles from where i live).Mr.Hall gave me the answer as to where the photo was took, and the bass in question does belong to our resident forum member & Squire soundalike Pete Greenwood.

I bought a copy of the poster from the Museum of making Music in California i still need to frame it ( i'm waiting to see if i can get Chris to autograph it).

Shawn, all you need is to have it with you and meet up with Chris. You'll need a pen or marker that writes white or silver as the poster is quite dark. I got my poster signed during the RIC 75th Anniversary at MOMM - Chris and Scotty were there for the performances that evening.
