Ruby RULES!!

Post by rickaddict »

This one's a little pricey, but I think it illustrates my point quite nicely!

That one is even better than my 4001 Ruby:

Sweet, Gary! 4001's in Ruby are few and far between.

I'm an S man, so I'm partial to this one:

Oh, I don't know. Yours is pretty sweet, and it's a 4001. The E Bay bass is gorgeous, but I was never crazy about the two piece pickguard the early 4003s had. Other than that, the bass is, as I mentioned, pretty sweet. :D :D

That's VERY nice. An "S" would be even better.

Don't see why that's not a standard color. Attention grabbing!

I've seen the Warp Drive Music one in person (it's in Milwaukee), and it's pretty nice. There's a worn spot on the back that was touched up with nail polish (I believe). I was the one who told them that the color was "Ruby." This, and the '78 Fireglo, have been there a few weeks. I told them their asking price was too high for each of them, but they said "that's what they are selling for these days." Guess the lack of acceptable eBay offers hasn't shown them that fact yet.

It is a beauty but starting at half that amount would garner some action.

Agreed!

Ruby would be a great addition as a standard color. Almost as good as Amethyst....

And, although his bass was modified, Ruby recalls the late, great Cliff Burton:

I agree, Dean, although Burton's was Burgundy, either color is more attractive than most of us realize.

Ruby is a ***** to paint. It's a three-step process, not counting the surfacer put on under it to make the instrument billiard-table smooth.

We don't want the voice of reason here, Paul, we're admiring the Ruby color!

I would imagine that if "Ruby" were to return, that there is probably a more modern, one-step metallic red that would look just as good. I think the DCM and the current Midnight Blue are one-steps, yes?
