4000

Post by seth_lorinczi »

I'm the proud owner of a 4000 myself, but I'm a little surprised at the direction this auction has taken:

Is a 4000--even early '70s vintage--really worth this much?

Seth, what year is your 4000? Mine was made in April '68. I bought it in 1982 for $200.00. I think it was worth that.
Is everybody ready?

ebay seems to be a sellers market for Ric basses ... and there are several really nice 4001/4003 basses listed well under $1000 ... it doesn't make sense ...

it makes the buy it now button look really attractive these days ...

Jeff, what is that a Fender Precision case from the 70's? If not, what is it?

A Fender case? Or a Rickenbacker case? The OHSC my February 1976 4001 came in is identical to that one, plus it has the Rickenbacker logo in huge letters on the lid. Well?
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I just wanted to let Randy and Jeff know that I have a standing offer to double their investments on those 68's ;-)

I bought an 84 4003 with a case that said Rickenbacker in huge letters on the cover (was glued on and fell off, is now at home in the bin, I have the case here.)but the case was a standard blue hard shell case that fit a Ric like a glove, like all the rest of the HSC's.

you know if the price of used Rics gets too unreasonable ... then we will just have to buy new ones ...

I bet that John Hall would like that ....
