White, or Black Guard???

Post by Scotty_Guitar »

A couple of weeks ago, I received my '08 4003 JG from MF ($1550! sans new full width FB inlay though). The question is, should I, or shouldn't I replace the stock guard with the black one? I already have the black guard...

What say y'all!

I've you've got a black TRC, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd stick with the white. Whenever I see a Ric with a black pickguard and a white TRC I kinda cringe. That's just my opinion, though.

Definitely black if you can get the black TRC.

Black with replacing the screws with black also. But you'd really want the black TRC with it.

I have the black guard, but not the black TRC. I figured the white TRC and white binding hang together.

I don't care for the black TRC w/ white letters. If I can find a black one with no letters, and I don't have to give up my OE TRC to get it, I'll go for it.

There is no such thing as a black Rick TRC with no lettering. But with some creative sanding you could make one!

RIC will make you return your TRC in order to get a new one.

What color is your new 4003?

It would look cool with the blacl p/g, but it would look much better if the TRC was black to match it. I love black plastic on Jetglo.

I never liked the look of the black pickguard on a white bound JG 4003. I prefer matching trim pieces and the binding is part of it (IMO).

It's too bad you can't do the exchange with Pickguardian, as they have a lot of cool color options, but not having a matching TRC blows the deal for me. It would be a gas if you could have them send you one that matches, but could have anything but Rickenbacker on it. I think in your case Scotty, a TRC that says on it would be pretty funny, and bound to get you a free pint anywhere you play it.
