Rickenbacker 325 Hamburg

Quite possibly the greatest rhythm guitar ever designed. John Lennon nailed it right, either by accident or genious. I know John played some lead with his 325, but its heavy guage strings, with the short scale is built for rhythm.

I'll agree with that.... I love my 325V59. It is the absolute perfect rhythm guitar, which is mainly what I play.... the short scale makes it kind of hard to play leads. The tone just can't be beat, and it sounds great dirty or clean.... but clean with the toggle in the bridge position is the best for that classic jangle sound.

Hey Melissa, my 325v59 JG is an October 1984 (XJ). My only problem with playing rhythm on it is when I do barre chords up around the 10th fret (like the intro D chord in "Bad Moon Rising") - my fingers wind up too close together. But I do love those open chords - "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party" sounds so sweet on it!

Of course, then ther's my 1987 320 SIlver:

Cool silver 320.... I just love the 320's and 325's in the "anti-Lennon" colors--not that I have anything against the Beatles, but it seems like almost everybody else wants one that looks just like John's. My 325 is Cloverfield Green.... I had put up a whole bunch of pics a few weeks back on the "Cold weather and Rics in transit" thread under "Rickenbacker General."

I've been in touch with a guy from Voxtalks who has a 325 just like mine (in fact, he's the one who beat me out the first time I saw a CG up for aution), as well as at least five more in unconventional colors.... I tried to talk him into signing up here and posting some pics of his collection, and I'm still hoping he will.

I agree about the "anti-Lennon" colors -- I love the Beatles but I love 325s and 350s in Fireglo and other colors, because you only ever see them in Black or Mapleglo. In fact I have a 350 on order in Montezuma Brown, but it has been over a year since I ordered it, seems they don't make too many of this model or there are tons of orders ahead of mine....

That silver one is dead cool. I sold my '88 320 three years ago, Mapleglo with black parts, great tone and some kind of a Honeyglo 3D-color. I must have been crazy to give it away (I actually needed the cash). Someone recently sold an absolutely grand looking white 325V59 with gold plastic on eBay, let me tell you: Don't part with your 320s guitars!

It's my favourite guitar too. I'm up to five and counting.......325V63, 325V59MG, 325V59JG, 325C58 and a modified 1981 320FG to 325 spec with Bigsby B5. I only wish you could still order the V59 because I really want one in Montezuma Brown...now that's a cool colour especially with the gold pickguard/TRC and oven knobs.
