I finally put together a flats set today and restrung the 325/12v63 with it. Sounds and plays awesome, so I thought I'd go the whole nine yards and do a tr adj. I was surprised to see one truss rod. Is that right? How did I not know this????

Re: 325/12v63 truss rod question
I have a 325JL Jason, and it's never had the truss rods adjusted. Hey Paul W, where are you? Only one truss rod ? MY TRC has never been off, and it's a 325/6 not a 12. Wow, how do you like playing a 325/12v63.....hard on the fingers? Are you using 12s or 13s for strings? I find that 12s work the best for my 325 JL, I tried 10s once and it just didn't cut it....
Good Luck !

One truss rod on the 325v59:
I haven't taken the TR off either of my 320s, but I'm betting that they also have only one.

Oh, sorry, forgot to answer the question...
I used D'addario Chromes, the .012 set, x 2, plus a spare .012 and .016, and have now a spare low E & A. It's pretty close to what JH specified, and it sounds and feels great. Gave the TR a turn of 1/4 and it seems to be settling fine after proper stretching of the strings. I think next I'll pair up some stock 325 strings. No Pyramids, though, they're just two hairs and some air too stiff.
If you don't have a 325/12 and want to know what it's like, put a capo on the 3rd fret of your 330/12 or 360/12 or 620/12 or 381/12. That's about it, with a smaller body. Nice for easy stuff, tricky for rocking out, but still possible. I'm considering a Ric-o-sound option...

Re: 325/12v63 truss rod question
Thanks for the photo Gary,
I've heard the 325/12 is quite a bear to play compared to a 360/12. I capo my 360/12v64 at the first fret sometimes if I'm playing along to CDs, etc.
Now I know about the single truss rod.....I don't play my 325JL as much as I should thinking I might ding it, but then if you don't play it, why keep it in the case.....Jason, I use the factory RIC set of SKU 95106, 12-54 with a 24W G. Mine probably needs a truss rod adjustment as well after 17 years, Hey Paul W, looking for more work?
( yeah, all he needs is more Rickenbackers to keep him up late into the night ). Maybe sometime soon....
Thanks....

Re: 325/12v63 truss rod question
I believe the only recent "325 reissues" with two truss rods are the 325C64 and the 1996 AFG models.

Re: 325/12v63 truss rod question
I'm here, Gary...my 325/12 BB has only one. It is a (ahem) challenge to play, but it sounds delightful; a bit down on sustain compared to a 330/12 or 360/12, but still its uniqueness rings out, shall we say.modrock wrote:I have a 325JL Jason, and it's never had the truss rods adjusted. Those are the strings that I used on mine. They really feel comfortable on the neck and they sound great. It's probably one of the most unique guitars in terms of its sound and general play.jdogric12aolcom wrote:Oh, sorry, forgot to answer the question...
