What Color Would You Like To See?

I really need a 12 string, and I can't get one until this color becomes available. I'll be the first to place an order, no matter how long it takes to get one. Dealers, feel free to contact me once it comes available!

Why not buy a used Ric 12 and have it refinished?

Paul -- re-finishing a used Rick would be costly to do right, and it would not be "authentic". I want mine to be the real deal. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever see "Whiteglo" as new color offering, given the apparent backlog and other things that probably take priority over offering White as a color. That's why sometimes I wish there were a custom shop -- the price might be higher and the wait could be longer, but I think that there would be a market for it. But certainly not while RIC is still trying to meet it's current demands. Well, one can dream!

Well, we KNOW that it CANNOT be a previous COY.

So that being said, let's consider what it can be. We already have black, red, natural, and blue. There could be a solid red (call it whatever you like) or a different shade of blue (that isn't a burst or an off-white). There could be a staining of the natural.

You could have variants of the other colors for which there are no options right now: yellow, white, green, purple, orange, pink, beige, brown.

The Halls have said "no white" so that's out. It's hard to imagine an attractive yellow, orange, or pink (except that Mink which was pretty nice) guitar in any shade, so those should be out.

Ben has stated his distaste for green, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be a shade that might get in. We already have a transgreen with the 4004.

Purple has been much discussed and "bootlegged" if you will. That might seem like copying.

That leaves us with beige/brown. Something that is not Montezuma Brown (by the way, the most popular COY). Maybe a light brown-glo? Maybe a Beige pastel? Maybe a solid brown? Maybe with gold flakes similar to the metalic sheen in the DCMs?

Another vote for Ruby, if it could be a one step as PB mentioned, instead of the time consuming process described by Paul W that would make Eric and the rest of the hard working fellows in the paint department at RIC go bonkers in short order.


On a completely non-related finish note, does anyone know why Fender chose to call what's basically a translucent off-white "blonde"?! It makes no sense to me.

I don't know if there will be a COY or not -- I'm just commenting on the thread topic, which is "permanant" colors. I think White would be nice, either way.
