Saw A Picture Of George's Guitars
Saw A Picture Of George's Guitars
I was flipping through a book about George Harrison that I hadn't ever seen before. Lots of the same old photos, but there was one interesting picture that caught my attention. It looked to be from the late 80's or early 90's. It showed George seated on a stool playing his 360/12 OS FG with his guitar collection behind him. Hanging on the wall I could see 'Rocky' and his Coral Electric Sitar. In a stand behind him I could see his Casino w/ Bigsby (Stripped finish like John's). That's the first time I had ever seen his Casino with the finish gone. Very interesting but not worth the cost of the book...

Randy, I'd like to know the book. Also, I coming to Dallas tomorrow until Thursday. You got some time? I've got a Gibson bass there that needs a pick up change. PM me with your phone number if you're available.

Similar I guess, but with the 360 on the wall behind him.

Love that Zemaitis acoustic next to him! That's the one Dahni (sp?) played at The Concert for George.

Stan: Yes, this picture is from the same photo session. Here he's holding a Gibson, and the angle is slightly different. Just to the right of his head you can see the knobs of the Coral Sitar.

Ack! The picture's unnatural aspect ratio hurts my eyes ...buzfluhart wrote:Similar I guess, but with the 360 on the wall behind him.

Know what you mean, Gary. My bad. Sort of squeezed the horizontal landscape a tad much. It hurts my eyes, too.

Randy, the picture you speak of is in the Rolling Stone Harrison-tribute book.

I like the Höfner in the lower left corner.
Re: Saw A Picture Of George's Guitars
I think that those photos are from series that George did for a magazine where he photographed some of his collection for a special on him that came out around the same time as Cloud 9.

Yep, its from Guitar Player I think. I used to have a reprint of it in the issue that came out after he died. The Hofner is a Club 50 that he bought for nostalgia's sake.
Great photo...so many famous guitars, I see Rocky, the rosewood Tele, Lucy the Les Paul, his J-160E, and the Casino.

Re: Saw A Picture Of George's Guitars
It's always strange to see such iconic guitars just hanging around on a wall like they were anyone else's, Rocky especially.

I know, it's pretty cool. I would kill just to step foot in that room.
Re: Saw A Picture Of George's Guitars
I thought George gave the Rosewood Tele away. Did he get it back?
