What's up with the knobs? I like it though. Toasters really do it for me. Is that Autumn Glo?

Hm... I like it.
Those are very old-style knobs. I believe they were to be found on only some models of the late 50s/early 60s. Also, I believe they were called 'pressure-cooker' knobs. Anyone?
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

They might be what "pick of the ricks" is selling as "TV" knobs.

The knobs are one thing, but lose the gold pickguard! Takes away from the beautiful Montezuma Brown finish!
They've also got a couple of MB's with toasters, standard knobs & a white pickguard....much more attractive IMHO.

That gold combination would really look nice on a new jetglow.

Hey I posted about a week ago asking what was up at Pick of the Ricks! They have several 300 series guitars out there that have gold guards and TRC... On a Turquoise guitar, or on Fireglo or Jetglo I think it is a very cool touch! But none of the above mentioned guitars featured the Oven knobs...

I think it looks really cool and different from the everyday 4003, real beatnik. I checked and Chris at POR wants $1249 shipping included. Hmmm...

I like it too, and I think the correct name is TV knobs. I also think they were on 50's Ric's, I think Lennon originally had them on his 58. Don't or didn't some of the re-issues have those?

I really like the goldguards, on the monte brown, its a lot like those old sunburst P basses with the gold aluminium guards.

I think those knobs are hideous tho, i really think the standard knobs are the nicest - better than those plain black with a white line ones too.

Anybody notice that the controls are back in the old '60s, '70s parallel placement on the various 4003 models at POTR? Compare them to the pics on the RIC website.

It looks like these are instruments that Chris at POTR is customizing in-house. I actually asked him about doing a bass with gold accents for me a couple of weeks ago. From what he told me, it sounds like they would cut a new gold pickguard as well as paint the TRC gold and re-do the raised lettering in black. Definitely a cool retro look, even if it isn't "factory".
