Re: "The Andy Griffith Show" Whistler Dies
That gets our attention...
But read on--he also did "I Spy", "Mod Squad", tons more AND "Harlem Nocturne", one of my favorite short straight-ahead jazz pieces.
A really amazing guy...when his first wife died after 59 years of marriage), he was 80, and he took a second wife.
Apparently he was also the prototype for the Energizer Bunny.
On a similar topic (some of you have heard this; apologies):
Do you work in an office with partitions? Early one morning, after everybody is in and dealing with their initial coffee cravings, very softly whistle the "Andy Griffith" theme. A few minutes later, whistle it a bit louder. Don't overdo it--maybe five minutes max spread along an hour's time span.
You will be rewarded with:
1. A number of people unconsciously picking it up and whistling it on their own, all day long.
2. Many people cursing them out, but nobody will remember who started it.
NOTE: This does not work in Indian call centers.

Paul,
I thought you were about to mention that this past March was the 40th anniversary of the office cubicle:
