Er...... Orange Fireglo?

Post by ozover50 »

Seems there was a very rare 'Orange Fireglo' colour back some years...... at least this seller says so! :?:

Quite. It looks like they've taken a thing or two away from Olivia's. The finish on it, regardless of what it is, is a great looking FG.

Beautifully-aged FG.

Here's a true Popsicle Glo, from October 2006:

Looks like a typical early 80's FG.
When the first v64s came out, the FG was very different
from the FG used on the standard models. Less orange, more red.

Great colour, though maybe an acquired taste.

I find the ask just a touch...ambitious...even for a seller in Oz.

For a look at a true PopsickleGlo painted by Jingle Jangle (I have the guitar to prove it)... scroll past the purple guitar and you'll see an actual orange paint job on a 330.

As you can see from my photos, the grass isn't really that green as I was trying to bring out the orange color. Its a difficult color to capture. The guitar Paul is showing above I think is mine when he first painted it minus the new stuff (Bigsby, VPs, gold guards & TRC). But in person, mine looks much "oranger" than a digital photo suggests. Must be a function of the RGB that makes the red so prominent.

I would say the seller's photos are a bit underexposed to bring out the orangy color in a FG paint job.

With a bit of PS3 work, I can make this 330 guitar look the same color as his through some Saturation adjustments.

I think he's got a great looking guitar but I doubt it was purposely created with an orange base.

Maybe Ben Hall knows differently, but that's my guess.

I guess if he's still got the warranty card, it will say the color.

Well I wasn't here back then, so I can't help out here. I will divulge the fact that a couple of years ago we had switched paint vendors and the initial samples we sprayed ended up looking very much like that orange FG. A handful of those left the factory in early 2006 before we got the FG color we preferred. Now I really wish I had kept one of those for posterity. They were kind of cool...
