Brassmaster clone

Has anyone tried one of these??? They sound kind of interesting. I heard about them over at the talkbass forum.

I give up - I get 2 seconds of video and thats it, either on their site or Youtube. And the sound clips don't work either....

I just got the Germanium version about a month ago and I'm very impressed. I can't compare it against the Silicon version or the original Brassmaster but in it's own right it's certainly a very versatile and good sounding fuzz.

Best of all, and I think you'll like this given the sub-forum you've posted this in, is that for me it's been the single biggest step forward in achieving the 70s era CS tone that I've experienced (despite my limited abilities )

It's taken me, on and off, the best part of the month I've owned it to getting to that sound but now I'm there I'm really pleased. I run it with the sensitivity maxed, bass volume about 1-2pm on the dial and vary the amount of fuzz (*** volume) and vary the switch positions depending on what I need. Lovely, lovely sound, particularly the note decay on sustained notes - the way the sound varies/wobbles/changes (apologies, I can't quite put it into words) as the fuzz circuit reacts is fantastic.

I'm using it with my '02 4003MG which I've put a VRI Toaster into (also routed for the 1/2 inch position). On it's own the toaster is quite bass-shy so I run it into an Aphex bass exciter first and crank the bass up. Then from there into the B:Assmaster and into an Ampeg SVP-Pro EQ'd flat except for a tweak on the low mids (450Hz if you're interested). For my particular Ric/Amp/Cab set up that works best for me.

I can also get some very Muse-like tones from it (Muse being a hugely popular band in the UK, not sure how well known they are in the US). If you're familiar with them you'll know the tones I mean if I mention songs like Starlight and Supermassive Black Hole.

YMMV depending on your bass/amp/cab setup and I've yet to try it in anger myself with my stock '05 4003JG, but certainly with my Toastered MG and with the bass beefed up first with the Aphex it's put a huge smile on my face

A fellow I ran into is raving about this pedal, but the analog B:ASSMASTER, the Silicon version.

I'm really not a pedal kind of guy, but I'd like to start messing with some CS parts again and thought it might be cool if I could find a used one on the cheap.

Yes, that is a clone, as a reissue would have to be from the original manufacturer. I hear those are very excellent clones, however; I was considering one, also until I got the VT Bass.

I have little to add friends, sounds impressive.
The silicon version is closer to the CS sound and I have received a mail from a friend who bought it, it appears just like the real thing.
